AGRANA Stärke GmbH
AGRANA Stärke GmbH is the operating company of the starch division with a potato starch factory in Gmünd, a corn starch factory in Aschach and a bioethanol plant in Pischelsdorf.
The management and coordination of the Hungarian subsidiary, Hungrana Kft. (50 percent stake) and the Romanian S.C. A.G.F.D. Tandarei is also entrusted to AGRANA Stärke GmbH.
Premium quality agricultural produce – potatoes and corn – also form the basis for this division’s products. AGRANA has successfully positioned itself as a supplier of customer-specific starch products.
AGRANA starches are found in numerous products used in everyday life manufactured by the food, paper, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, textile, construction and animal feed industries.
AGRANA has established itself as an international specialist for organic starches, is organically certified and offers a range of guaranteed GMO-free products.
The demand for biofuels in Europe will increase significantly in the coming years as the EU's biofuels guideline requires that bioethanol is progressively added to gasoline. With its 240,000m3 capacity bioethanol plant in Pischelsdorf, Lower Austria, and the expansion of the Hungrana Kft. bioethanol facility from 50,000 m3 to 160,000m m3, AGRANA is ideally positioned to capitalize on the opportunities this legislation presents.
