Fruit Juice Concentrates
AGRANA is Europe’s leading producer of fruit juice concentrates for the fruit juice and beverage industries.
The fruit juice concentrate segment was created through the acquisition of a series of leading companies.
AGRANA currently operates ten fruit juice concentrate plants in Europe that are located in the most important growing areas for apples and berries.
In Poland, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Denmark and Austria, the Group also purchases and processes so-called red fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrant, redcurrant, sour cherries, chokeberries and elderberry) in addition to apple juice.
Besides fruit juice concentrates, direct juices and purees are also produced for the highly specialized West European fruit juice industry.
Due to their fast-growing levels of consumer demand for apple and berry juice concentrates, the CEE countries represent new and important markets for sales.
In order to be able to forge ahead with its dynamic growth strategy, in 2006 AGRANA acquired a 50% interest in a subsidiary of a leading Chinese apple juice concentrate producer. In cooperation with this partner, AGRANA will produce “sweet” apple juice concentrate for the export market. This variety of apple juice concentrate is considerably less sour than comparable European products. China has by far the largest apple growing regions in the world and produces around one third of the total global apple harvest.
AGRANA attaches particular importance to fair trading relations with its suppliers and engages in intensive research to improve growing conditions for its supply chain partners.
In order to be able to compensate for vegetation-related variations in harvests from various growing areas, for example, AGRANA is constantly searching the globe for new suppliers and regions so as to bolster its independence and ensure that only the best quality fruit is processed.
In the fruit juice concentrate segment, AGRANA is successfully striving to tap new sources of raw materials and has set itself the goal of consolidating its strategic position in new growth markets.
