Segment Fruit
The research and development activities in the fruit segment are concentrated in the Innovation and Competence Centers in Gleisdorf | Austria and Brecksville, Ohio | USA. This is where new product developments are worked on in order to meet the changing demands of customers and markets.
Due to the short product life cycles associated with fruit yoghurts, it is vital that companies making fruit preparations are able to react rapidly to changing consumer demands, and to recognize or set new trends. For this reason, in 2005 a cutting-edge innovation and competence center for product and process developments, process optimizations as well as product and process quality assurance for the entire AGRANA fruit division was established at the Gleisdorf site.
The main development focuses in the area of fruit juice concentrates lay in increasing the yield of juice and coloring obtained from the processed fruit and in achieving improvements in terms of quality as well as increasing yields of fruit flavorings from processing steps.
Other efforts aimed at developing technological adjustments to bring about optimized uses of energy.
