AGRANA and Volvo Car Austria will be supporting the Grafenegg Music Festival 2008 in the course of their cultural sponsorship initiatives. In addition to financially supporting art and culture, Volvo and AGRANA will be joining forces for the first time this year to provide an environmentally-friendly shuttle services for artists that is based on a fleet of Volvo flexi-fuel vehicles (FFVs).

The Volvo flexi-fuel range includes the C30, S40, V50 and S80 models in a total of seven different specifications, all of which can be run on the environmentally-friendly fuel SuperEthanol E-85 that consists of up to 85% bioethanol combined with super grade petrol. AGRANA is underpinning the artist’s shuttle service by providing environmentally-friendly fuel that has been produced at its bioethanol plant in Pischelsdorf | Lower Austria since June 2008.

“As an internationally active company with Austrian roots, we regard the promotion of art and culture in Austria as an important issue. This relates in particular to the promotion of top-flight music festivals with an international profile in Lower Austria, one of the core regions of our business operations in Austria,” comments Johann Marihart, CEO of AGRANA Beteiligungs-AG. Through their sponsoring of the event, Volvo and AGRANA are not only contributing to promoting art and culture, but, through the FFV shuttle service, are also helping to protect the environment due to the fact that every litre of Austrian bioethanol represents a saving of around 50% in terms of CO2 emissions when compared to petrol.

“In addition to safety and quality, environmental awareness is one of the core values of the Volvo brand. The Volvo flexi-fuel models are already on the road and actively reducing emissions. The issue of the environment can be developed further here at Grafenegg: environment / listening enjoyment / music, etc. The aim is to establish the logical association of Volvo values,” adds Gerd Battenfeld, Managing Director of Volvo Car Austria GmbH.
