AGRANA's Starch segment is the second traditional core business area of the Group. AGRANA is the specialist in the processing and refining of top-quality agricultural raw materials such as corn, wheat and potatoes to create a variety of different, highly refined starch products.
Through close cooperation with its customers and the development of tailor-made solutions, AGRANA has continually expanded its Starch business and thus ensured its economic success. The priority is to manufacture starch products of the highest quality level, using modern, environmentally friendly methods.
AGRANA Stärke GmbH operates a total of five starch mills:
In Austria, the potato starch mill in Gmund, the wheat starch mill in Pischelsdorf and the corn starch mill in Aschach an der Donau, In Hungary, the corn starch and isoglucose mill of Hungrana Kft. in Szabadegyhaza (50% stake), In Romania, the corn starch mill of S.C. A.G.F.D. Tandarei s.r.l. in Tăndărei,
As well as the bioethanol plant in Pischelsdorf, Lower Austria. The Hungarian corn starch and isoglucose plant of Hungrana Kft also produces bioethanol.

The by-products from the production of starch are sold as animal feed.
