The sugar, starch and fruit group AGRANA now offers a new, top-quality animal feed rich in proteins under the brand name ActiProt®, which is suitable for livestock used for the production of GMO-free foods. This new product will in the future enable around a quarter of Austria’s approximately 600,000 tonnes of soya-based animal feed imports, the GMO-free status of which can no longer be guaranteed, to be substituted.

ActiProt® is a by-product of the domestically grown wheat and corn used in the production of bioethanol at the AGRANA facility in Pischelsdorf, Lower Austria. AGRANA ensures that strict quality assurance requirements are constantly met from the delivery of the raw materials through to the sale of the pelleted animal feed. This new domestic source of protein-rich animal feed will also have a positive effect on Austria’s balance of trade given that the around 190,000 tonnes of ActiProt® per year from the AGRANA facility in Pischelsdorf are based on Austrian value added.  With a protein content of at least 33% and a high energy content, ActiProt® is suitable for all species of livestock.
