Steirerobst opens Fruit Preparations Factory in Serpuchov, Russia

After several months of trial production, AGRANA subsidiary Steirerobst officially opened its fruit preparations plant in Serpuchov to the south of Moscow on 23 September 2005.  The facility was built at a cost of € 22 million.  This new plant is the first of its kind in Russia. 

It is located in the immediate vicinity of Steirerobst’s biggest customers in the dairy industry and covers an area of about 80,000 square feet containing two modern production lines. 

The plant gently processes mainly deep-frozen fruits and berries according to more than 150 different recipes.  The Serpuchov plant has an annual production capacity of 15,000 tonnes of fruit preparations and employs roughly 120 people.

To date, the Steirerobst Group has been making fruit preparations at two locations, namely in Gleisdorf, Austria, and in Vinnytsa in the Ukraine.

The Steirerobst Group recorded revenues of € 122.5 million during the 2004/05 financial year.  It has a workforce of about 1,000.  Steirerobst makes fruit juice concentrates and fruit preparations in Austria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the Ukraine and, of late, in Russia.
