Replacement of fossil-based products

AGRANA pursues a principle of complete raw material recycling into main products and by-products (primarily animal feed and fertilisers).

AGRANA is focusing on innovative solutions to gradually replace fossil raw materials with renewable, bio-based alternatives. AGRANA is therefore prioritising the following measures as a key contribution to its climate strategy:

In the phase from 2026|27 at the latest, the increased energetic utilisation of low-protein raw material residues is to take place alongside material recycling in order to continue to fully utilise all raw material components, but also to optimise climate protection. In the Hungarian AGRANA sugar factory in Kaposvár, beet pulp and other beet residues have already been used for biogas production for several years. However, as the energetic utilisation of biomass is at the expense of feed revenues, a suitable economic framework is required in order to be able to implement it profitably.
