Climate-neutral production:
In the short-term, the main focus is on improving energy efficiency and increasing the use of electricity from renewable sources.
In the long term, the aim is to switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources in Scope 1 and Scope 2.
Our measures:
- Utilisation of waste heat and other efficiency technologies
- Switch to electricity from renewable sources
- Electrification of heat-based processes, e.g. through the use of vapour recompressors
- Replacing fossil fuels with:
- Natural gas (as an intermediate step)
- Biomass, biogas or hydrogen (in the long term)
In total, based on current assumptions, AGRANA would have to invest around €541.4 million by 2040 to avoid the greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1+2) generated in its production from processing the raw materials used, although specific projects are only included in the company's internal five-year plan (projects and cost estimates beyond this have only been modelled so far).
