D.S.A. 7
High-adsorption dry aerosol rice starch designed as cleanser in hair care products
INCI Name: Oryza sativa (rice) starch + cetrimoniumchloride
D.S.A. 7 is a surface-active, physically modified rice starch tailored as a powder base for aerosol and squeeze dry-shampoo systems. The range includes white base grades and colored compounds (iron-oxide pigments) and delivers high sebum adsorption, good dispersibility in powder systems and formulation flexibility for dry-shampoos.
Key benefits
- High sebum adsorption with low moisture; leaves hair refreshed without whitening or residues.
- Strong antistatic, easy brush-out behavior after aerosol dispensing; resists agglomeration in propellants.

Enhance the activity of your cosmetics the natural way by choosing the right variant. We provide formulation guidance, sample trials and scale-up support.
D.S.A. 7 is also available as colored starches, please see Colored Rice Starches for more information
Formulation insights
How surface-activation improves sebum uptake without powdering hair
D.S.A. 7 is a modified starch optimized with cetrimonium chloride and through physical processes for use in dry shampoos.
The surfactant modification increases its affinity for sebum and provides excellent hair cleansing without leaving a powdery residue on the hair.
For colored grades, pigments are incorporated into an applied layer of dimethicone to maintain color performance without impairing adsorption. The formulation benefit for aerosols is improved dispersibility and predictable dose delivery when the starch is matched to propellant and dispenser design.
