Sustainability at AGRANA

Attuned to people, nature and business

AGRANA sees sustainability as acting responsibly across environmental, social and governance matters. This means avoiding or reducing environmental impacts, using resources efficiently, taking social responsibility throughout the value chain, and conducting our business in an economically sustainable and values-driven way.

Our understanding of sustainability‍

Our business is closely connected to primary agricultural production. That makes sustainable business practices an integral part of AGRANA’s business model.

We follow the same integrated approach in our sustainability reporting. The sustainability indicators that are material to our business are therefore included in our Annual Report as part of the non-financial statement, prepared in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Value chain
Sustainability in AGRANA's value chain

Diversity creates diversity - from food to animal feed and more.

AGRANA processes a diverse range of agricultural raw materials, including fruit, grain, potatoes and sugar beet. We source these through long-term partnerships with farmers, contract farmers and primary processors. Diversified regions of origin, resilient supply chains and forward-looking risk management help us secure reliable supplies, even in the face of climate change, geopolitical shifts and volatile markets.

Focus areas

Key issues and areas of action

Sustainability is part of our corporate strategy and informs how we manage risks and opportunities, as well as how we balance our environmental, social and governance objectives.

This is reflected, among other things, in how we put our sustainability principles into practice. Across our segments, we work together on areas such as raw material sourcing, production and marketing. Key priorities include the near-complete utilization of raw materials, as well as measures to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.

Building on this, we have worked with our stakeholders to define key topics and areas for action across the entire value chain. They form the foundations of AGRANA’s sustainability strategy.
