Resistant corn-based starch for mattifying, moisture control and silky skin-feel

INCI Name: distarch phosphate

CORN PO4 PH “B” is a boil-resistant distarch phosphate based on corn. It is a white, free-flowing powder with neutral pH and low microbial load that provides pronounced mattifying and silky skin-feel in emulsions, while its high specific surface area enables significant moisture adsorption without loss of powder character.

Key benefits

  • Strong mattifying effect that reduces visible shine and delivers a velvety skin finish in powders and emulsions.
  • ‍High moisture adsorption — can adsorb water while remaining free-flowing.
  • ‍Improved sensory performance in emulsions: silky skin-feeling, reduced oiliness and sustained release of actives/aroma.
  • ‍Process and storage stability: chemically modified (di-starch phosphate) to be boil-resistant and suitable as a powder base and pharmaceutical filler.

Formulation insights

CORN PO4 PH “B” combines chemical modification (distarch phosphate) with an over-dried, high-surface-area particle structure to deliver performance that is distinct from mineral powders. Can adsorb water while retaining powder flow and opacity – a significant practical advantage over talc for moisture-management in powders.

The distarch-phosphate linkage provides boil-resistance and improved thermal and shear stability in emulsions; this enables stable incorporation into hot-phase process steps and supports prolonged sensory and release performance of active ingredients .For the “slow-release” effect, thorough hydration (e.g., 10 minutes at 60–85°C) is recommended.
